The last time we saw Eric Ripert, the eminently likable Le Bernadin top chef, he was being tortured by his good buddy Anthony Bourdain during a hot-pepper tour of China’s Sichuan province. The episode from Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown” CNN show proved that even under literal fire (in the mouth) that Ripert was a Michelin-star rated cook who could handle being taken to the culinary woodshed.

Not just any condo kitchen, but Eric Ripert’s kitchen.

And it looks like things have heated up in Ripert’s own NYC real estate life. Thanks in part to his wife, Sandra Ripert of Douglas Elliman, the Riperts have netted a 500K profit on their Chelsea condo.

According to Luxe Listings, the Riperts are under contract for their 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment at the Chelsea Green building at 151 West 21st Street for $2 million. The Riperts bought the unit in 2012 for $1.5 million. It has been listed for sale for $2.2 million.

There was no mistaking Ripert’s connection to this apartment, since listing notes assure potential buyers that the kitchen was “designed by world-renowned chef Eric Ripert” and features teak lava finish with Caesarstone countertops. High-end appliances include Smeg, Liebherr and Bosch, with in-cabinet recycling centers and high efficiency faucets by Grohe.

Chelsea Green is, as it suggests, a green building aiming for a gold LEED rating. The building features a heat recovery system that tempers cold air and delivers filtered fresh air and state-of-the-art central heating and cooling system by Daikin. The building also offers 24-hour attended lobby, a wellness and fitness center, billiards lounge and landscaped roof deck. And, just like the Riperts’ investment seems to have paid off, the unit is being touted as a good investment property.
