Anyone has an idea what a 20x40 gunnite pool would cost to build in the Hamptons.

$50k.

50K is low, unless you mean for the pool alone. You likely will need some drywells, you probably will want an automatic cover, salt system, heater, sunken propane tank, bluestone coping, etc. I paid more like $85K last year.

Im building one now...Im getting a pretty good deal on it. I think you just have to shop around and not use the Hampton big name builders. I didnt do salt though
nyc_sport....how do you like the automatic cover? Do you just keep it covered during the week when you arent there? How does it look when the pool is open (and the cover is tucked away)?

hey BobF, who do you use then?

I mean for pool alone. If you start adding things like salt, automatic covers, jets, etc. it gets much higher. I used Sparkling and they did an excellent job. It was another 5-7K to run all the electric.

Would a smaller pool (say 15x30) be significantly cheaper?

Sorry BobF, haven't checked here in a while. The automatic cover is great. You barely notice it when open (the rail tucks into an opening at the end). The cover also keeps the water much warmer, and far less stuff in the pool. We do leave it covered all week, and overnight on weekends.

i've got a vinyl pool currently and thinking about converting to a gunite for aesthetic purposes (and the liner should be replaced soon). i redid the deck earlier w bluestone & put in a spa, but would like the pool to match, any ideas how much just converting vinyl to gunite would cost? roughly? i'd assume less than the 50k estimated above.
