The impressive structure known as the Textile Building in TriBeCa was designed by Henry J. Hardenbergh famed architect of the Dakota & Plaza Hotel in 1901. Residential developer Yitzchak Tessler of Tessler Developments converted the building in 1999 to 46 residential condominium apartments. The conversion was designed by architect Karl Fisher and Alan Ritchie, who added an additional floor for a stunning Penthouse apartment. Walker Group was responsible for the reimagining of the common areas that still pay homage to the textile industry and its impact on the district now known as TriBeCa. The neoclassic structure has units ranging from 1300 square feet and up to over 7,000. The building has all the amenities one could hope for, including a garden courtyard, a rooftop terrace with a children’s play area, a fitness center, a bicycle room, a media room, and an on-site attended 50-car garage. All apartments contain originally steel columns with, gas fireplaces and individually controlled heating and air units. The halls are decorated with antique materials dedicated to the American textile industry.
