Building: The Plaza at 1 Central Park South in Central Park South
The Plaza Hotel is a legendary and iconic building and a National Historic Landmark. Built in 1907, it was then known as the greatest hotel in the world and arguably still is. It rises up to 20 stories and its French Renaissance design with green-tinged, spired top sits at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 59th Street among soaring, modern skyscrapers and steps away from Central Park.
Incorporating luxurious pied-à-terre suites and grand private residences (to include 14 recessed penthouses), privileged owners live part and full-time at the majestic Plaza.
The Hotel Condominiums -- “Exquisite Pied-à-terre Suites”-- Fifth Avenue
The Plaza’s 150 hotel condominiums, offer owners five different suite plans, including terrace units ranging in size from 1,300 to 2,100 square feet. Baths boast 24-karat gold Sherle Wagner facets and accessories, inlaid mosaic earth stone in floral motifs and hand-crafted, white marble vanities.
The Plaza’s Private Residences —1 Central Park South
The 182 private residence condos have a separate entrance on Central Park South and have their own private European-inspired garden. Private terraces and “Juliet” balconies overlook the garden with a cascading water feature to add to its genteel yet grand ambiance.
Model residences are furnished with Versace Home Collection design. All homes have high ceilings with period moldings and mantelpieces. Floors are walnut-bordered herringbone parquet and were designed to reflect original mosaic patterns found in the Plaza’s lobbies. In some units, fittings and finishings in the baths have the “Double P” insignia and all are crafted by Kohler and Lefroy Brooks.
Kitchens contain Nero Marquina stone countertops and mosaic Calacatta marble-tiled backspashes. Custom cabinets are glass-fronted and hardware have a historic feel—”merging today’s sensibilities with the warmth and spirit of old New York.”
Residents of the Plaza enjoy every exquisite amenity that the Plaza delivers and has delivered for over 100 years.
