Grades: 10-12 School: Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School in Gramercy Park

MCNDHS is to new immigrants and older returning high school students today, what historic academic high schools of the past were to our immigrant parents and grandparents. The mission of Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School is to create a school of excellence for young people with adult responsibilities. It offers them the opportunity to attend a full-time academic high school from 10:00 am until 11:00 pm. These unique school hours enable students who work, or are raising families, the chance to choose an academic schedule that dovetails with their adult responsibilities. In effect, they are able to earn an accredited high school diploma while meeting other responsibilities. To serve this population effectively, the school is committed to creating a nurturing, quality educational environment that respects students and treats them with dignity. It is a mission that builds upon a great New York City tradition of offering educational opportunity to all.
