PS 11 believes in the ability of each and every child to reach his/her true potential within a diverse community of learners. PS 11 strongly believes in instruction that is assessment driven and requires children to be actively engaged in their own learning. We, at PS 11, understand the importance of demonstrating, not demanding, what children need to do to become successful learners. We are dedicated to children understanding the process as well as the product. We also believe that children need to become actively involved in their growth socially. They need to be able to talk out disagreements and compromise when necessary. The staff is also involved in their own growth as learners, and there is both an understanding and expectation that teachers reach out to other teachers, the administration, and staff developers to improve their practice.
