The Mahalia Jackson School is committed to excellence. Our school mission is to provide programs and services which address all of the needs of our students. We set high expectations for our students while creating a nurturing environment. We attempt to provide a program that encourages self-esteem and creates independent learners by building on the individual strengths of the child. Building this environment and moving our children toward success is dependent on the collaboration, commitment and accountability of all constituencies: administration, teachers, parents, support staff, and community-based agencies. In addition, we make every effort to encourage and train parents in strategies necessary to reinforce the learning of our children. In order to ensure that learning is at its best, we strive to provide staff development for our teachers to build on their individual strengths and creativity.
