Apthorp: Mann Realty's Role is a Bad Sign

Maurice Mann, the mastermind behind the floundering Apthorp renovation, is not someone owners at a building of that pedigree will be pleased to deal with. He's is known mostly as a landlord of middling buildings on the upper west side, and has a reputation for utter indifference to tenants' concerns. One building with renovated apartments charging high market rents has had its elevators under repair for nearly four months, despite elderly and disabled tenants who are completely immobilized by this, plus families with multiple kids living on high floors. All the promises have been broken and the tenants are up-in-arms. This does not bode well for the future of the Apthorp.
