Is there a clear way, online, to know for sure which elementary school zone a particular address falls into?
I know streeteasy lists them and is usually right, but I want to be sure.
I tried the DOE website
but amazingly, I see a bunch of lines for school zones, but don't actually see which school falls in any particular zone.
For example, I've heard tons about a new school opening up on the UES in the 60s somewhere and changing the zones, but can't find any definitive info whether it's happened or not, and what effect it has had on zones. The DOE site now shows PS 267, but does not specify what the zone for that school is, or whether it's changed the zones for PS 59 Beekman, PS 183, etc.
Thank you in advance...
Go to http://schools.nyc.gov/default.aspx. Enter the address of the school and it will tell you what the zoned school is.
Oops. Enter the address of the apartment to get the zoned school. Print it and keep it.
they used to have a website with the schools and their zones. they took it down about a yr ago. i think it had to do with the expected rezoning they are planning/implementing.
Go to insideschools.org.They have a map. After that, you can call 311 and confirm what school that apartment is zoned for. That's what I did.
Should also try to get a sense of the chances of being sent outside of your zone school due to overcrowding.
onlyinnyc, thank you. insideschools maps are very helpful.
REMom, where on the DOE website can you enter an address to see what school it's zoned for? I have not been able to find that feature.
The problem is that much of the rezoning has been called "temporary". When this happens DOE does not change the zoning information. We perform updates with the temporary information when possible. If you find any discrepancies, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will investigate.
this is the link to use for searching of a residential address and what schools it is zoned for at the current time http://schools.nyc.gov/SchoolSearch/.
i would not trust insideschools.org. the garbage data that i've seen in terms of zoning and school reviews makes we very hesitant to believe anything that is there.
ab, not following you. I go to that link, but don't see anything there that allows me to type in a residential address to find the school. As an example, I type in 150 East 61st and get "no matches found". Pretty sure the "address" field only works for the address of the actual school, which, of course, is useless.
I guess I am a little dumbfounded that such basic information is not easily found online. How else do people verify school zones? Calling 311?
on top, it says school search. put in the building address, county and the grades... that's all
for your search, the following came out.
