We moved into a place recently with one of those bath fitter type shower stalls. What would it cost to rip it out and replace it with tile so I don't feel like I'm living in a motel? I assume there would be no plumbing involved just putting up sheetrock and installing wall and floor tile.?
dylan621 - you will need plumbers for this. To remove the existing plastic wall, install tiles, the fixtures cannot be in place. You also do not want to use Sheetrock in a bathroom reno. Pricing this without knowing the materials or size of bathroom is worthless.
I will be happy to meet you and give you a real estimate. E-mail me firstname.lastname@example.org
There probably is existing tile under the new acrylic shower which is probably in not such good condition. I am sure you will need to remove that tile as well along with the walls behind it. Once that becomes your scope of work your building will probably require you replace all the branch lines back to the riser. If i was you I would assume you need to do a complete bathroom renovation. A typical Manhattan renovation (for a complete bathroom) will cost anywhere from 22k and up.
