I am interested in moving into a luxury building between Park Slope and Downtown Brooklyn and went for a tour of DKLB. It seems nice, but I would love to read some experiences from renters before I take the plunge.

Most reviews online are from one or two years ago and it would be great to have something more recent to base my judgment on. Anyone on here live(d) there?

We lived there. It was convenient and less expensive than the luxury buildings in Manhattan. What exactly do you want to know about it?

I went and visited already. "...and went for a tour of DKLB" is a line in my first post. Looks can be deceiving, which is why I'm asking for experiences from people who have lived there.

Hi anwong, sorry for the late response. I wanted to know if you had a good experience living in DKLB. How were the appliances, and could you hear noise from neighbors through the walls? Was the management responsive to problems you had, if any? Thanks :)

No worries. The experience wasn't bad. The appliances were all brand new, so there were no issues with that. Do be aware that you do have to replace light bulbs yourself for the in apartment light fixtures. Not easy to find as some of them are special sized (I had to go to a specialty light store). I don't recall ever hearing noise from neighbors through walls, but I had some really good neighbors at the time. I can't say that I appreciated the newest neighbor that had moved in after one of my neighbors left. Smelly drugs is all I can say that affect, but you can always bring it up to whoever is sitting at the front desk and they will talk to that person about it. After I moved out, I know that the building was in the process of installing new a/c units with a digitally controlled thermostat. I'm not sure if that helped with electrical bills or not. When we lived there, our electric was pretty high for a "green" building. I account for the electric being high due to the huge A/C units that never stopped running unless you turned it off yourself. Be warned, the blinds and the window glass don't block out the heat of the sun. In all, I liked the people that I'd met and the people at the front desk are friendly and helpful. Management was fairly responsive to any maintenance problems I'd had. Hope this helps you out.

The Aluminum blinds installed are a good way of controlling the light but adding blackout or even solar shades would definitely help reduce AC bills. Although since its a rental you would probably have to order and install them (custom made) and take them with you when you leave
