Looking for a competent architect who is reasonably priced for a gut reno of a nyc co-op priced in the $700ks & ~1000sf. Should be open to listening to the homeowner's ideas (& possibly implementing them)instead of the usual, "my way or the highway" attitude. (I understand that everything needs to be presented to & approved by the co-op board). Any recommendations?

Dear Sammy300 - I am such an architect, and I submit here some links for you to look at to see the breadth of work I've done. The first is a full portfolio of photo albums arranged by project, and the second is my website. I'd be happy to meet for an initial, no-fee consultation on-site if you'd like to reach out at your convenience. Thanks for your consideration - BRM
Find an architect who sees things the same way you do but don't expect a good architect to do it "your way" if they think your ideas suck.

We treat every project as a collaboration with the owner. It is still your apartment and you need to be comfortable with the look, feel, and function. If we don't agree with something then we will make suggestions and present ideas to adjust but you have final say outside building and city approvals. I'd be happy to discuss more with you.
An unlistening architect is missing the problem to be solved: to speak to the client's perception of the program, as much as the technical, legal & bldg mgmnt's demands. Often that solution is about exposing to the client alternative ways of seeing the program rather than stuffing some preconceived idea into the project.
For your consideration, and to see if you'd like a free, on-site consultation: Benjamin Marcus Architect, LLC - www.benjaminrmarcus.com

Often I hear the story that the person walks into a space & says, "I like this, who did it?" When you find someone who shares the same aesthetic as you, that's the one.

Hi Sammy,
I would be interested in speaking with you further regarding your potential project. We take pride in working closely with our clients and designing spaces through collaboration but with direction. Please visit our website to view samples of work.
Frank Martarella at Think Design Architecture, his number is 718-987-3729. He's great with codes, he's experienced with condo, coops, etc. I specifically saw a penthouses additional for a brownstone in Manhattan that he worked on - lovely work. http://thinkdesignarch.com/home.html

Perhaps you should specify what "your way" is.
