Junky,
AF http://www.afnewyork.com actually has their shower heads hooked up so you can see what kind of pressure they each have.

You can walk into AF just to look around, but yes you'll want to make an appointment if you want to sit down with a salesperson. Depending on what kind of style you're going for you can try Waterworks (more traditional looking) which is around the corner. Both places are at the high end. For midrange try Simon's. Ask for Erica. She's fantastic. If you don't see exactly what you're looking for she can probably zero in on something from a catalog or online. There's also Smolka two blocks away which is worth checking out.

(or mostly building water pressure) my thoughts exactly
Or like shopping for TVs, of course when SHARP or LG or whomever has a special rebate for the store or just more sales incentive, how hard is it for the store to send a better cable signal to those floor models.

Marco,
Of course but you still can compare one shower head to another
Jasoni,
Af does have hi-end but they also supply everything that Simons has.

My advice: make an appointment to see the shower heads, write down the name and model number of the shower head you like the most, and then go home and buy it online. Because any sotre that requires an APPOINTMENT is going to be super overpriced.
Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can go in NYC to check out different shower heads other than the home depots? Thanks
