I am American, but I don't live in the U.S. I'm looking at moving to NYC and buying a property, most likely a rentable condo. All this could happen in about a year. Leading up to that I need to become as informed as I possibly can about the process, the law and what the real expenses are at the time of purchase and for ongoing maintenance.
Where do I start with that? What good books can I read, web sites, even classes(even if they are in NYC). I just need a lot of information and I am wondering what is the most efficient way to go looking for it.
NWT's recommendation is a good choice: I bought that book a few months ago and love it. Even if you don't want a co-op, it's still packed full with information.

Thanks both of you.
That looks like just the ticket.

Any ideas?
