Can anyone offer any insight into the pros cons of these two neighborhoods?

I lived (rented) and worked in Harrison for several years before buying in Harlem. Harrison is a beautiful town with low taxes relative to most of Westchester - largely because of the "Platinum Mile" (headquarters to Pepsi and several other large firms). I haven't been there in awhile, but last I knew crime was low, schools were considered strong. I considered Harrison to be a nice family town that was just a rest stop until I found what I wanted in the city- I hated needing a car for virtually everything. I don't know Pelham Manor well enough to comment.

I live in New Rochelle, just up the street from Pelham Manor. I know Harrison a little. I like both locations.
If you're working in Manhattan, Pelham Manor seems to be the more convenient for commuting there. Both towns have a nice "village" feel to them with easy access to local shopping, often within walking distance from residences. Both towns also have convenient access to a major highways.
If you require more specific information I'd suggest using City-Data.com

Isn't Harrison where George Pataki lives? I thought it was a gated community, or maybe there is a gated community within Harrison.

Harrison is far superior. Only if you work in the City and value the shorter commute is Pelham Manor even competitive.
