Anyone have experience with EasyClosets.com custom closets?
I'm looking to outfit my 5x7 walk in closet and would like to hire someone to do the installation. About how much would that cost and can anyone recommend a guy?
i used them way back in the day, 2004 I believe, when I didnt feel like paying 15K for calif closets. Cheap materials, but did the job fine. You basically hang a bar across the back closet wall and then hang the custom measured furniture on that. So my advice if you do it is to use good screw anchors in the drywall when you install the bar, otherwise the screw on its own likely will fall out under the weight of the cabinetry
Used easycloset and absolutely loved it. First got an in home consult from California Closet from some pushy lady that tried to tell me there was only one way to lay out my closet, her way. Needless to say, we didn't go with California Closets. Got a total custom job from EasyCloset for half the prices, and same materials/finishes as California (still cheap materials either way, its all particle board).
Did the installation myself, used a bunch of toggle bolts (those butterfly type anchors that open up inside your wall) and did fine. If you're comfortable with IKEA, you'll do fine with this.
Be prepared for a lot of boxes though. I think my shipment came in 35 separate UPS boxes (not exaggerating). It took up my entire building lobby, thankfully we dragged it in the apt before the other residents freaked out.
Thanks for the reviews. I also looked into Elfa and didn't like it as much as EasyClosets.
mh330 - Wow, 35 boxes? How big was your closet(s)? I'm only doing 1 closet tha's 82"x60" so I'm hoping it won't be too painful.
FYI, this is my design:
I'm being quoted a wide range of installation prices.
The 2 handymem I contacted are saying $85-$90/hour @ about 2-4 hours.
Another guy who specializes in EasyCloset installation is saying $700-$800 (all day job).
I've used Easyclosets for 5 closets, including a huge walk-in, over the years and can't give them a stronger recommendation. The materials are as good, if not better, than the competitors including California Closets for a fraction of the price.
Regarding installation, the wild card is your walls. In one of my closets, two of the walls adjoined a storage area and the walls were very thick which made anchoring the bracket more difficult. Otherwise, looking at your design, I think you are looking at a full day and my inclination would be to go with the guy who specializes in Easycloset installation. The hutches in particular are time consuming to assemble and install (but are great). Let me know if you have any questions.
Agree with gatornyc.
My landlord had them installed in my rental apt. a few months ago.
Yea, my closet was about 10 ft wide (lucky me!), so may have more boxes than usual. That said, all the drawers and shelves you're planning is what will add up, box-wise.
I agree with the above comments, go with the guy that specializes. I would say it took me all day to install, and i consider myself relatively handy.
Yes, it took all day to install for 2 large walk-ins and 3 large size closets.
Go with the guys that specialize.
It took me a few hours just to hang my clothing and fill the closets after the installer finished.
