There are a lot of plumbers on streeteasy. I definitely wouldn't use Google local search, or the yellow pages to actually call a plumber - too expensive when you can get expert advice here for free. Maybe if you are lucky, NYCMatt will tell you that it is your fault and that his grandmother never had a clogged sink.
bump, to add i've used drano (i know its bad) and "snakes" to no end on my bathtub yet yields a slow drain, any cheap solution to this problem? yelp/google reviews are slim for plumbers.

Disuse typically means the water in the P-trap under the sink sits for a long time, rather than being flushed/refreshed through regular use. That could mean more sediment building up and hardening on the pipe walls in the trap. (Or if the trap water evaporates, sediment could be drying out and hardening that way.)
For prevention, be sure to not send too much junk down the drain, and run water to flush it out before leaving for a long period. Maybe try filling the trap with mineral oil before leaving (doesn't evaporate so fast). Or just have someone come replace the drain line between the sink basin and the wall -- easy work for any plumber (or even a handyman, if you aren't constrained by building/licensing requirements).
After being unused for a couple of months, kitchen sink gets clogged . Why? Any preventive measures out there? Thanks!
