oh i'm sure it's a combo. reality tv in general is all partially staged.

kyle- i agree. i just saw that episode. do you think its the brokers deceiving the producers of the show, or the show sets it up as well?

in terms of the glass house episode, it was funny that at the end of the show they (which seems like it was filmed in the summer/fall) said all units had offers on them, but to this day none of them are in contract...

i watched an episode where a broker claimed they had to win over a new client for his listing without ever mentioning that in fact they sold that same apartment to that very person 2 years prior. the broker than hosted a "party" that included mostly friends of mine (and the brokers) who were not people intersted in the building. then at the party they showed a guy go up and give the broker a check so he could claim he had a "signed offer" for the unit. that person is an actor i know and a friend of both me and the broker. it was laughable and sad. i don't know what else i can say but if you watched the first season you must know that they never sold anything and the "clients" were almost always friends of the brokers who weren't even seriously looking for anything.

The last part was "more reality about BUYERS and SELLERS, as well"

why a sham? as spin for brokers? or for the network? why would they hire actors rather than find real buyers!!!!? Looking at the posts on here, the pool of buyers you could cast from would make for very entertaining TV.

I wonder if this show appeals to anyone outside of NYC. I assume somewhat to be picked up for 2nd season.

I wish they would show more reality, like the way brokers must really talk about properties, buyers, sellers...what they really think....
It would also be good to see more reality about brokers, what they really think, etc

at least they were honest in stating that these units have been on the market for YEARS. that they sold may be a fallacy

which means they sold it to a cousin, a friend, or a co-worker in disguise. i watched a totally broke actor i know pose as a buyer on an episode last season. that show is such a staged sham.

Compared to similar buildings in the Soho/Tribeca area, the monthly condo fee's seem very high. Anyone have any insight as to why?
Thx

with the tower of garbage going up none of these apartments will sell at these prices. they must all know that though. if anyone really is interested in living across from the garbage tower you should bid insanely low and see how it goes.

Yes. Knock a million off the price of each apartment and they'll competitively priced.

The "Glass House" was an interesting concept for Philip Johnson's Glass House on the 47-acre campus in CT. But it has shown over and over again to be a disaster for apartment buildings in the WV and surrounding areas.

Valuations have really crashed in this building. Guess its the garbage tower being built or the fact that the neighborhood never took off. Beautiful structure though. just wrong location.
