Tucked between Park Slope and Bay Ridge, Sunset Park is the home of Industry City and sweeping harbor views against the neighborhood’s namesake sunsets. It’s called Sunset Park for good reason: the nabe’s 25-acre eponymous park is a hidden gem for skyline vistas, epic sunsets, green fields, and a public pool. Relative obscurity kept real estate prices low for decades, though that appears to be changing as buyers and renters seek alternatives to Park Slope and Carroll Gardens. A new era is beginning here: Industry City, a cluster of 16 warehouses on cobblestone streets, now hosts Smorgasburg, The Brooklyn Flea, and Mister Sunday, a daytime summer dance party. Industry City’s art galleries, tech conferences, rooftop movie screenings, and countless artisan shops are putting Sunset Park on the map for an increasing number of New Yorkers. For buyers, the neighborhood’s selection of multifamily homes with rental income potential can help offset mortgage costs. Renters can still find plenty of approachably priced units, as well as a rising number of new developments.
