CBS Newsman Scott Pelley Picks Up $2.25M Flatiron Condo

CBS anchorman Scott Pelley has had a rollicking few weeks in the chair — and on the floor of the Democratic National Convention. Now the veteran newsman can catch a few winks in the privacy of his own, new condo. Pelley and his wife, Jane, have closed on a condo at The Oculus, located at 50 West 15th Street.

The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit is just under 1,300 square feet and one of only 47 units in the 10-story boutique building in one of the Manhattan’s most sought-after neighborhoods. The Pelleys paid $2.25 million, just a shade under the $2.35 million list price. The unit last sold for $1.56 million when The Oculus Condominium opened in 2008. The Pelleys passed on the only other unit now for sale at The Oculus, which is a 3,000-square-foot penthouse listed for $8.95 million.

Pelley, who recently turned 59, will likely use the apartment when he can’t get back to his 8,000-square-foot home in Darien, CT. And goodness knows after hours of manning coverage for the evening news and hosting other pieces for “60 Minutes,” this sharp little condo will come in handy. The unit sports a nice little balcony, too.
