Median asking prices in Manhattan have hovered around the $1.5 million mark for much of this year, making it difficult to find great homes within the six-figure range. It’s even harder in some pricier neighborhoods, like Chelsea. But there are still deals if you know where to look, like 345 W. 21st St. #5A. Our Deal of the Week is a one-bedroom unit in the middle of Chelsea with a real wood-burning fireplace. In other words, your perfect home for the holidays!
Get to know our Deal of the Week.
The median asking price for a home in Chelsea was $2.5 million this October, according to the StreetEasy Data Dashboard. That means our Deal of the Week is priced at about a fifth of the median asking price for the neighborhood!
Buyers who stick with the 20% minimum down payment of $119,000 can expect to see monthly payments of $4,237. This includes a mortgage payment of $2,968 and a maintenance fee of $1,269.
The best part of this unit is certainly the living room, which is flooded with light thanks to two large exposures facing southwest. The large room has plenty of space for a seating arrangement in addition to a small dining set or desk, depending on your needs. But the highlight is certainly the wood-burning fireplace, which is outfitted in classic red brick. There’s nothing better than cozying up by a real fire in Manhattan during the holidays!
Tucked away in a nook is the kitchen, which has sleek blue-green cabinetry and a glass tile backsplash. The bathroom has also been updated with stylish finishings, including white hexagonal floor tile and marble wall tile. There’s also a spacious stall shower with a rainfall showerhead for the ultimate spa-like experience.
The bedroom is located at the opposite end of the apartment as the living room. It can fit a queen-sized bed in addition to some extra furniture, and contains a small window and a closet with additional storage space overhead. There’s another closet right outside the bedroom, which is actually a closet within a closet for more organization.
Located in the heart of Chelsea, the co-op building has great access to the C and E trains, the High Line, Chelsea Park, and Chelsea Piers. Art galleries abound in the neighborhood, and you’ll never be without a good restaurant to try. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s are also both located within a few blocks!
The kitchen is definitely on the smaller side and isn’t the most well equipped. There’s no oven, and the refrigerator is only half-sized. Additionally, the building doesn’t have many amenities, doesn’t allow pets, and is a walk-up. There is, however, a laundromat just two blocks north. And if you’re looking to buy in prime Chelsea, you likely won’t find a better deal!
