A new rental building at 555 Waverly Ave. in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill neighborhood is making 38 of its 190 apartments available via a new affordable housing lottery. Rents for this Clinton Hill housing lottery will be $735 for a studio; $741 for a 1-bedroom; and $888 for a 2-bedroom unit.
Qualified applicants must earn at 60 percent of the area median income, with the eligible range starting at $27,086 for a single person and rising to $57,240 for a four-person household.
Located between Fulton Street and Atlantic avenues, the eight-story building was designed by HTO Architect. The gray and white-paneled exterior was intended to “mirror” the neighborhood’s townhouse-lined streets.
The building — on the site of the former factory for Beigel’s Bakery — includes amenities such as basement storage, elevators, on-site parking, laundry room and a bike room. Madison Capital paid $23.5 million for the building, and Beigel’s has moved its historic operation to a new state-of-the-art facility in Canarsie.
Applications for the housing lottery can be made online at NYC Housing Connect. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to: 555 Waverly Ave c/o Breaking Ground, PO Box 3620937, New York, NY, 10129.
Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than May 24, 2018.
