Cynthia Nixon and Wife (And Others) Buy East Village Apartment

Cynthia Nixon plays the lead in this new ensemble piece that features an East Village apartment purchased by two couples for unknown reasons.

Confused? It’s not all that tricky.

The former “Sex And The City” star and NYC theater notable Nixon and her wife, Christine Marinoni, have just bought a 2-bedroom apartment in the East Village for $1.49 million. The twist is that another couple, Michael Growler and William Bowers, are also co-owners of the prewar co-op. Growler was a dresser in the “Sex And The City” movies, according to Luxe Listings, so clearly the dual-couple group has formed a happy ensemble of some sort since then.

Maybe the apartment is for the fellas, since Nixon and Marinoni also own a loft on Bleecker Street. So, maybe it’s an investment, given that this 2-bedroom is ripe for a renovation that could make it even more desirable. Heck, maybe the group is going to Airbnb the place for a little mad money. Any way you slice it, the cute apartment is a nice buy given the location, the building and the corner unit that affords a lot of windows and light.

The building features a pretty nifty lobby. Built in 1929, the 12-story mid-rise co-op contains 100 apartments, most of which are one-bedroom, one-bathroom. That means Nixon & Co. got one of the more rare larger units. All of the building’s apartments still feature prewar details like high ceilings and herringbone floors.

Building amenities include bike room, laundry room, live-in super, package room and full-time elevator attendant. Pets are allowed.
