CNN anchor Don Lemon, who hosts “CNN Tonight” every evening on the cable news network, is selling his 1,400-square-foot condo in South Harlem, reports Variety. The 2-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 2280 Frederick Douglass Boulevard #11B hit the market on February 12 for $1.75 million. That’s just a bit more than the $1.48 million Lemon paid for it back in 2013.
The Louisiana-born Lemon has been based out of CNN’s New York bureau since 2006, but he wasn’t new to the city even then. He actually earned his broadcast journalism degree from Brooklyn College, and he now serves on the school’s board of trustees. In fact, according to his CNN bio, his first job as a news assistant was at WNYW, while he was still in college. He also worked as a correspondent for NBC News and “The Today Show” in NYC before joining the cable network.
The home was originally configured as a 3-bedroom, but it appears that a wall was knocked down to create a more expansive living/dining area. It’s easy to see why: The third bedroom now serves as a proper, if not separate, dining area, and two big banks of windows looking out over the city add to the feeling of wide-open space. The first bank of windows leads out to a sizable balcony.
The sleek chef’s kitchen is tricked out with top-shelf appliances, including a professional-grade Wolf range. The master bedroom is huge, with a wall of built-in closets and corner windows with two exposures. The entire apartment is outfitted with a Sonos sound system, and hidden in a hall closet is that ultimate of NYC luxuries: an in-unit washer and dryer.
