upper west side 1br

Wow! Our Rental of the Week makes quite an impression.

Some NYC apartments are nice, pleasant, even lovely. And then there are some that really bring the drama and just make you say wow. This Upper West Side 1BR makes a spectacular first impression: That staircase! That fireplace! The blindingly bright bay window! Our gorgeous Rental of the Week is also gorgeously located right near Riverside Park. And the price is pretty dramatic, too — dramatically low for the area. Check out the video walkthrough on the listing, and read on for more.

Address: 332 W. 89th St. #2A

Price: $2,299

Size: 1-bedroom

Neighborhood: Upper West Side

Best feature: Can it be a three-way-tie between the huge windows, the stately fireplace, and that elaborate spiral staircase? Soaring 14-foot ceilings make room for a big loft space above the bedroom, which is perfect for a guest bed, a home office setup, or even just a very fancy storage area. The bedroom itself has a big closet and enough space for a queen-size bed. And the location speaks for itself — a tree-lined stretch of elegant prewar buildings less than a block away from beautiful Riverside Park.

Why it’s a deal: The median rent for an Upper West Side 1BR is $3,200. That puts our Rental of the Week at just about $1,000 per month below average for the area. In fact, it’s even less than the average price for a studio in the area, which is $2,345.

Biggest drawback: It’s unclear why there’s no door on the bedroom entrance, but a sliding door could certainly be added. More importantly, for as beautiful as the rest of this apartment is, the kitchen and bathroom are…not. The kitchen is practical and has lots of cabinet space, but it’s very dated. And the bathroom? There’s no photo, but it’s there in all its glory on the video walkthrough. Hope you like the color blue!
