Lewis Hamilton is one of the world’s biggest and richest sports stars, but the British native often flies under the radar in U.S. news compared to soccer stars like Messi or Ronaldo, NBA stars like LeBron James or NFL Super Bowl titan Tom Brady.

It’s little wonder then that details about a pair of huge NYC real estate deals executed by Hamilton at 443 Greenwich and 70 Vestry St. have been a little tough to pin down.

According to the New York Post and The Real Deal, the race-car driver has just listed the $43 million apartment he bought at 443 Greenwich in 2017 for $57 million. The sale comes within two months of Hamilton’s purchase of a $40 million unit at 70 Vestry St.

Hamilton, who is about to defend his title in the first Formula One race of the season in Australia, is estimated to have a net worth of $285 million, and is not only considered the best driver of his generation but one of racing’s best ever. He is apparently trading the 8,900-square-foot triplex at the celebrity-studded 443 Greenwich to live in the same Robert A.M. Stern-designed building where Tom Brady and supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen own a residence.

StreetEasy documents for the 443 Greenwich triplex show that after Hamilton purchased the residence in 2017, a second title transfer for zero dollars took place in 2018, so it’s unclear what entity actually owns the 443 Greenwich penthouse. The $57 million listing is held by Mara Papasoff at Brown Harris Stevens.

In addition to the massive interior floor plan, the unit contains an additional 3,426 square feet of private rooftop space with a plunge pool, outdoor kitchen and open city and river views. Papasoff said in her listing notes that “two private parking spaces in the building valet garage are included in the purchase as well as two others by separate purchase if desired.”
