Report: George Clooney and Amal Buy Luxe Midtown Condo

The Royals are coming. No, not anyone straight out of Buckingham Palace, but Mr. & Mrs. International Walk of Famers, George Clooney and his London-barrister wife, Amal.

According to the New York Post, the Clooneys have purchased a top-floor apartment at the forthcoming 100 East Fifty Third Street, a 63-story condominium development from Foster & Partners due for completion in 2017. The suave actor and his glamorously activist wife did not go for the $65 million penthouse for sale in the minimalist tower, but “settled” for what appears to be a 3,385-square-foot unit on the 49th floor, which is the only other higher floor residence listed for sale.

The building features 94 loft-like residences that are pretty soaring in scale thanks to high ceilings, walls of windows and polished concrete floors.

The luxury Midtown tower will give Amal Clooney easy access to the United Nations, where she sometimes deals with human rights cases. The Post also reports that she is teaching at Columbia Law School. If the celebrity couple notoriously busy with competing schedules can’t find time to make a meal, their new NYC condo tower will offer a ground-floor restaurant featuring Michelin-rated chef Joël Robuchon.

The building will also feature concierge service, an exclusive gym and spa (including a lap pool), library and a culinary market.
