Gucci Sisters Unloading Fifth Avenue Penthouse for $45M

From the gleaming, modern looks of this Fifth Avenue penthouse, you’d never guess the messy legacy of its sister-owners. Now Gucci heiresses Allegra and Alessandra Gucci have decided to list their stunning duplex at the Olympic Tower at 641 Fifth Avenue for $45 million and call it a wrap here in New York.

According to Business Insider, the sisters spend most of their time in Europe, so the 10,000-square-foot perch has hit the sizzling NYC luxury real estate market. The heiresses were left fatherless after their stepmother, Patrizia, ordered a hit on her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci in 1995 during a divorce dispute gone mad.

There’s no mistaking that this 51st and 50th-floor unit is top quality, from the endless views of Manhattan to the amenities and furnishings. The 8-bedroom, 9-bathroom unit features a wood-paneled library, a double living room, a formal dining room and a sprawling eat-in kitchen.

The two floors are accessible via two staircases and two  interior elevators connecting the lower floor of living and entertainment space to the upstairs. This is a premiere unit in the Olympic Tower, one of the most exclusive, white-glove-service buildings in New York that was developed by another European tycoon — Aristotle Onassis. The building sits across from St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center.

After their stepmother was sentenced to 29 years in jail in 1998 following the murder, the Gucci sisters took possession of the penthouse, but they have been renting it for $60,000 a month since 2010, according to reports.
