There’s never a shortage of high-profile real estate deals in New York City, home to the stars of stage, screen, art, music and more, but Neil Simon?
The legendary and highly productive writer who gave us everything from “The Odd Couple” to “Barefoot in the Park” to “The Goodbye Girl” for decades made his Manhattan home at the Ritz Tower at 465 Park Ave. before he passed away in Aug. 2018.
Now his widow, Elaine Simon, has listed the three NYC apartments, and plans to live primarily in California, where Neil Simon split his time before passing away at age 91. Simon was a Bronx native and a Pulitzer Prize winner, and had more than 30 plays produced on Broadway, where his work was a box-office magnet.
Simon’s first purchase at the residential condo tower was a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment on the 14th floor and it’s now listed for $2.595M. The Wall Street Journal reports that Simon originally purchased the unit in the 1980s, and it remained his main residence while in New York City.
The corner unit is notable for its foyer entry, large 24-square-foot living room and dark herringbone floors. Maintenance fees for the apartment are $5,589, which were no doubt an easy swing for the royalties-rich writer.

The WSJ reports that Elaine Simon, Neil Simon’s fourth wife after marriages to Joan Baim, Diane Lander (twice) and the actress Marsha Mason — who starred in “The Goodbye Girl” — chose to create separate living and work spaces for her husband, as well as separate space for visiting guests.
That guest apartment is this 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit that retains its prewar details but was completely renovated after the couple purchased it in 2014 for $1.35 million. It is now being listed for $1.495M.

The WSJ notes that this top-floor co-op is loaded with artwork that’s not included in the sale, including a framed picture of Simon’s 1986 appearance on the cover of Time magazine.
This 31st-floor perch was also completely renovated, which showcases richly beamed ceilings and other millwork. However, the real “Wow” factor are the views: 360-degree vista that showcases everything from Central Park and all around. It is being listed for $2.8M.
