It’s tough to imagine any news about Norah Jones that tops the essential blockbuster truth that she’s the daughter of Ravi Shankar. Still, this being New York, and this being the epicenter of high-stakes real estate moves, we can admit to a shiver of excitement upon learning that Jones scored a pretty sweet Cobble Hill abode.
According to the New York Daily News, Jones and her partner, Lee Alexander, are the new owners of the “Eat, Pray, Love” house at 172 Pacific Street. They bought the place in May for $6.25 million and intend to convert the 2-unit dwelling into a single family residence. The couple, who have a 1-year-old son, have been musical collaborators for years. Alexander is a jazz bassist who has written and co-produced some of Jones’ biggest hits, so maybe they were in the market for a bigger place to raise their son and make more Grammy-winning music.
This former firehouse that dates back to 1840 can sure spark the imagination: It was featured in the movie “Eat, Pray, Love,” starring Julia Roberts and caused quite a stir when it was sold to an LLC this spring. Now the cat’s out of the bag about who’s going to make sweet music there now.
