Prospect Heights is an appealing neighborhood for lots of reasons: its proximity to Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum, its classic Brooklyn housing stock, and its great shopping and dining options. Prices in Prospect Park can be a little challenging, but that’s where our Deal of the Week comes in. The unit at 382 Prospect Place #12 is a true 2-bedroom with charming features, an excellent location, and a very reasonable asking price.
According to the latest StreetEasy Market Reports, the median asking price for an apartment in Prospect Heights is $1,437,500. That puts our Deal of the Week at about half the median asking price for the neighborhood.
Buyers who put down the minimum 20 percent down payment of $142,000 can expect to see monthly payments of $3,787. This includes a mortgage payment of $2,895 and a maintenance fee of $892 — not bad by NYC standards.
This is a true 2-bedroom apartment, meaning that each bedroom has a window and closet. Both bedrooms are about equally sized, too, with the same hardwood floors and crown moldings that can be found throughout the apartment.
The living room and kitchen are connected for an open, spacious feel, which is also enhanced by the updated lighting fixtures and 9-foot ceilings. The kitchen features sleek white cabinetry in addition to a Bosch dishwasher and LG refrigerator. There’s also plenty of space for a dining set. The bathroom, located off the foyer, has a large soaking tub in addition to an upgraded vanity.
Location-wise, this place hits a home run. It’s just a couple of blocks away from Prospect Park and Grand Army Plaza, on a great street full of cafes, restaurants, and bars. There are two playgrounds nearby, and the 2, 3, B, Q, 4, 5 and Shuttle trains are all an easy walk away.
The apartment is located in a pet-friendly co-op, with subletting, gifting, guarantors, parents buying, and pied-à-terre use all welcome. The building also has its own roof deck, in addition to storage space, a laundry room, video security, voice intercom, and bike storage.
The bedrooms in the apartment are definitely not huge; the photos show not much more than a bed in the master bedroom. The kitchen is also slightly short on counter space, and the unit appears to be a walk-up. But for those looking for a 2-bedroom in a great neighborhood, this could be it.
