Rangers Winger Races Into Meatpacking Condo

The Broadway Blues may hope the Stanley Cup Finals are this season’s destination. To get there, an increasing number of New York Rangers players will have to go through lower Manhattan.

Wait, what?

For the second time this week, NYC’s NHL team has found a star player making a real estate deal Downtown. This time, winger Mats Zuccarello is the buyer for a $3.295 million condo on West 14th Street at the trendy 345meatpacking. The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit isn’t sprawling at 1,228 square feet. Then again, given the hectic training and travel schedule of the NHL season, not to mention the less-than-extravagant lifestyles of so many pro hockey players, this unit should suit the Norwegian-born offensive star just fine.

With an $18-million contract extension under his belt, and hopefully a full recovery from a tough head injury sustained last season, Zuccarello can take pleasure in his new digs. The apartment features a master suite with a very nice glass-enclosed wet room and soaking tub — perfect for aching muscles. And if he can’t find solace in his brand-new pad, then Zuccarello can ask his 24-hour doorman for tips on where to go. Or, he can head over to teammate Derick Brassard’s new condo in Tribeca.
