On Saturday, March 2, StreetEasy hosted its annual NYC First-Time Home Buyers’ Series. In its fourth year running, the event drew more than 600 first-time buyers from across the city.

The morning’s program was jam-packed, featuring:

An overview of the current NYC housing market presented by StreetEasy Senior Economist Grant Long and StreetEasy Economist Data Analyst Nancy Wu, which starts at 3:30 in the video.
A crash course on the home search and buying process presented by buyer’s agent Tyler Whitman of Triplemint. See his talk at 22:55.
A tutorial on home financing from mortgage specialist Tony Jao of Investors Bank, starting at 39:30.
A conversation on the legal technicalities of closing the deal with real estate attorney Rosalind Ting Kwast Esq. of Kwast Law, PLLC. The video of her talk starts at 55:30.
A rundown of the home inspection and why it’s important with Jacqueline Gathers, Licensed Home Inspector at Pillar to Post, starting at 1:15:40.
A Q&A panel in which our experts answer the audience’s questions about the home buying process in NYC. The video of the Q&A starts at 1:25:15.

After the main program, we invited attendees to the StreetEasy Home Buyer’s Hub, where they had the opportunity to meet with a variety of home-buying experts and ask individual questions. At the end of the day, attendees walked away with a wealth of knowledge about buying in NYC, some helpful literature on the different steps of the process, and even some cool swag.

Tyler Whitman from Triplemint offered a crash course on the home-buying processs.

More than 600 prospective home buyers attended the event.

The event ended with a Q&A panel featuring all of our local industry experts.

Jacqueline Gathers, Licensed Home Inspector at Pillar to Post, explained the importance of home inspections.

After the event, the audience had the chance to network with real estate professionals in the StreetEasy Home Buyer’s Hub.

Rosalind Ting Kwast of Kwast Law, PLLC offered insight into the legal details of buying a home.

Buyers left the event armed with a whole lot information — and some great swag!
