crown heights 2br

Our Rental of the Week is a nicely renovated 2-bedroom in a 1910 townhouse. And yes, that door leads to a private backyard!

Great deals abound in Brooklyn. But a great deal on a big, beautifully renovated, easily sharable 2-bedroom/2-bathroom unit in a historic townhouse? With in-unit laundry and a big backyard? Now that’s something to shout about. No wonder this charming Crown Heights 2BR, on the edge of the neighborhood’s historic district, is our Rental of the Week. Round up a roommate and take a look!

Address: 1583 Pacific St. #1

Price: $2,400

Size: 2-bedroom

Neighborhood: Crown Heights

Best feature: This Crown Heights 2BR’s renovation is really well done. Both bathrooms are sleek and modern, as is the kitchen — with granite counters and new stainless appliances, including a dishwasher. Both bedrooms are a comfortable size, not cramped, and in-unit laundry is a huge bonus. Prewar details are retained as well, like that beautiful fireplace mantel. And the unit makes a very even share: Each roommate gets a bedroom and a bathroom of their own, with the big backyard accessed via a generous shared living room. It’s also just a quick walk from the A and C trains, for easy commuting.

Why it’s a deal: The median asking rent for a home in Crown Heights is $2,500, according to the StreetEasy Data Dashboard. That means our Rental of the Week, even with laundry, a dishwasher, and a backyard, is still $100 per month cheaper than average for the neighborhood. Nice!

Biggest drawback: This is a true garden apartment, which means it’s on the ground level. First-floor living has a lot of perks — like that backyard! — but it’s not for everyone. And one of the two bedrooms here seems to have only an interior window. It still gets a good amount of light, but it does not open directly to the outside.
