Stanley Commons, located at 656 Stanley Avenue in the East New York area of Brooklyn, is a newly constructed, six-building complex designed by Dattner Architects and developed by Kretchmer Companies. The mix of residential and community buildings are as high as seven stories and will contain 240 residential units. The project is expected to be completed in early 2017.
Of the 240 units, 191 are being made available to qualified renters who meet the income requirements. These consist of one studio, 102 one-bedroom, 78 two-bedroom, and 10 three-bedroom units of varying sizes. The studio will rent for $788, one-bedrooms for $847, two-bedrooms will rent between $836 and $1,025, and three-bedrooms between $963 and $1,182, depending on the size of the units. Annual income requirement has been set at between $28,355 and $63,060, depending on the size of the unit and the number of people who will occupy the household. More detailed information can be found via NYC Housing Connect.
The residential buildings will contain laundry rooms and community rooms, and the complex has several other features, including a large courtyard, parking lots, and play areas for children. The community features will be operated by Good Shepherds Services and Man Up, Inc., two companies specializing in social services. Stanley Commons is also located conveniently to the A, C, J, L, Q, and 3 trains, as well as the B6, B20, and B83 bus lines.
Hopeful applicants have until Sept. 27 to send in their materials, either by mail or online. The winners of the lottery can expect to be contacted within a few months of that deadline for interviews and further information.
