Our Rental of the Week takes us to lovely Boerum Hill, a neighborhood known for classic Brooklyn charm, excellent shopping, and highly sought-after homes. What it’s not known for, of course, is affordability — and that’s what makes this bright, spacious studio really special.
Address: 89 Wyckoff St. #1A
Price: $2,150
Size: studio
Neighborhood: Boerum Hill
Best feature: This studio’s got style! The living area’s oak floors and exposed brick fireplace, the kitchen’s marble countertops and sculptural faucet, the bathroom’s gleaming chrome sink and basket-weave floor tiles: Every detail has been curated for an aesthetic that is clean and modern while also being warm and inviting. Two big windows flood the space with sunlight, making everything glow. And what a location: The fantastic shopping and dining options of Smith Street are just steps away, as are the F and G trains at Bergen Street.
Why it’s a deal: The median asking rent in Boerum Hill is $3,300, according to a recent StreetEasy market report, while the median asking rent in neighboring Cobble Hill is also above $3,000. That makes this Boerum Hill studio a major bargain for the area, with heat and hot water even included in its $2,150 rent, and it’s in a prime spot to enjoy the considerable pleasures of both neighborhoods.

Biggest drawback: The fireplace, while lovely to look at, does not work. And the butcher-block kitchen island that provides much-needed counter space is not built in — it appears to come with the apartment, but the listing is not totally clear on that. Beyond that, this is of course a studio apartment, which means you have only the one room to squeeze your whole life into. It’s a pretty sweet room, though, in a fabulous location — and it won’t last.
