This 1-bedroom on the Upper West Side is a slam-dunk, with a great price, dream-worthy location, and incredible curb appeal. It’s an easy pick for our Rental of the Week.
Address: 55 W. 94 St. #C
Price: $2,600
Size: 1-bedroom
Neighborhood: Upper West Side
Best feature: This apartment is located less than a block from Central Park, in a quintessential Upper West Side brownstone that dates to 1910. Doesn’t the facade of the building look like the brownstone Macaulay Caulkin booby-trapped in “Home Alone 2”? That’s because it’s literally two doors down from the actual film site. The apartment also has a wood-burning fireplace and spacious, light-filled interiors. It might not be the Plaza, but we think even Kevin would approve.
Why it’s a deal: The boroughwide median rent for a 1-bedroom was last recorded at $3,200. On the Upper West Side, the figure was $3,100. So at $2,600, this place is asking $500 less than the typical 1-bedroom in the area.
Biggest drawback: The kitchen is small and has basic appliances and practically no counter space. But we kind of doubt you’ll be thinking about that as you’re walking half a block from Central Park back to the beautiful brownstone you call home.
