Life in this city moves pretty fast! In the words of the immortal Ferris Bueller, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. To keep you up to speed, we’ve compiled a quick roundup of what One Block Over’s editors have been reading, discussing, and buzzing about this week. Here’s what’s happening in NYC real estate:

Can NYC Millennials Be Lured Away by the Suburbs?

Gothamist was rather amused by the idea, but it’s serious business: Real estate developers are trying very hard to lure young city residents out to the burbs. As reported by Bloomberg Businessweek, towns like Yonkers and New Rochelle are building huge luxury apartment towers in the hopes of attracting millennials with their short train commutes, over-the-top amenities, and lower-than-NYC rents. And while ax-throwing bars and dog-washing stations are not necessarily great reasons to move, a better quality of life for less money certainly is.

When an IV Drip Is Included in Your Rent

Then again, why would you leave the city when super-cool condo amenities like designer IV drips and cryotherapy await you in Noho? Believe it or not, it’s true: As the New York Post reported, a new luxury development at 40 Bleecker Street will feature all that and more as part of a deal with a wellness boutique in the building. Prices may start at $1.75 million for a 1-bedroom, but the IV menu includes one specially formulated for extreme-hangover recovery. Beat that, New Rochelle!

Bergdorf’s Holiday Windows Reign Supreme

Over at Time Out, Adam Goldman conducted a March-madness-bracket-style smackdown that pitted the city’s best holiday window displays against each other. The field included famous NYC stores like Macy’s, Tiffany’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and others, but in the end, Bergdorf Goodman beat out Bloomingdale’s to come out on top. Congrats to this iconic Fifth Avenue emporium on winning the 2019 NYC Holiday Windows Tournament crown: Its windows truly are magical.

Affordable Housing for LGBT Seniors

Anna Quinn of Patch reported a bit of heartwarming real-estate news for this holiday season: The city’s first-ever affordable senior housing complex for LGBT and LGBT-friendly residents has opened in Fort Greene. Appropriately named the Stonewall House, the 17-story building will offer more than 140 apartments to seniors making 50% or less than the area’s median income. It’s the largest community of its kind in the country.

Snow Squall Spectacular

Finally, we can’t discuss what’s happening in NYC this week without talking about the snow! That’s right, the city was briefly held in thrall by a much-hyped snow squall on Wednesday, which set peoples phones buzzing with alerts, caused some scary weather-related calamities, and even brought a humpback whale to delighted onlookers at Rockaway Beach. Time-lapse videos of the storm as it moved over Manhattan, like this one from NBC News, were utterly mesmerizing:
