Over 300 feet tall, Casa 74 clad in “Armani like” glass and metal panels is not just another pretty glass box, its breath of fresh air on Second Avenue. Interesting slight angles soften the flat surfaces and allow for sky colored reflection and make room for terraces and balconies in the 87 unit building built in 2008 by H3 Architects and developed by the superlative World Wide Holdings Group. These two power houses joined forces with SLCE Architects who’s broad aesthetic palette provided a fresh approach to past projects such as The Milan and Beacon Court and their expertise meshed perfectly with French trained Etienne Coffinier and together they created modern, livable enduring residences.
Lower floors have loft-like duplex one bedroom plus den spaces and just three one bedroom units exist in the building. The majority of the residences range from 3 to 5 bedrooms. At the 7th floor the building tiers inward allowing for spectacular terraces. Above the 22nd floor there are just two large units per floor of 4 and 5 bedrooms. Above the 26th floor many units have fireplaces. All have well thought out and livable floor plans. The three Penthouses enjoy large terrace spaces and spectacular views. Interiors are clean and luxurious and transitional in design; boasting sumptuous finishes, Sub-Zero refrigerators and Miele appliances, 10-foot-high ceilings, Toto toilets, and radiant heating in the master bath floors.
Developers note the residences are custom designed for both empty nesters as well as growing families who need more space and desire a wide range of kid and adult-oriented amenities. Private outdoor garden, and the 42,000-square-foot Equinox facility are the cornerstones of the full service experience.
Casa 74 set aside 2,400 square feet of facilities for tots, tweens and teenagers, such as a toddler room with a cruising wall, a climbing tree house, a play zone for crafts and a reading area and a game room and 1,500-square-foot outdoor space. For the teenagers; an arcade with pin ball machines, extreme dance and basketball arcade games, as well as Foosball, air hockey and table tennis. A lounge, kitchenette and party room, 24-hour doorman, valet/concierge services, a private outdoor garden, refrigerated storage round out the package.
