East Harlem Housing Lottery: 70 Units in a Bjarke Ingels Building Starting at $1,023

A new East Harlem housing lottery is offering 70 rental units at 158 East 126th Street, ranging in size from studios to 2-bedrooms, for as little as $1,023 per month for a studio.

Qualified applicants must earn at one of two household-income levels: Either between $38,400 for a single person and $73,680 for a family of five, or between $70,423 for a single person and $159,640 for a family of five. See commensurate rents and unit sizes in the chart below.

The apartments being offered are in 158 East 126th Street, known as “The Smile” for its curved shape. It was designed by famed Danish architect Bjarke Ingels and features impressive amenities, including a 24-hour concierge, a fitness center, a game room and social lounge, and even a rooftop pool.

This brand-new building does not have any market-rate units listed for rent yet.

Qualified applicants for the lottery should apply online at NYC Housing Connect. The deadline to apply is July 23, 2020.
