Behind the hedgerows, fences and assorted other obstacles that help to preserve the privacy of the rich and famous who summer in the Hamptons are mansions — fabulous mansions that are as much as part of the story as the celebrity themselves.
Take the Wainscott property that Leonard DiCaprio reportedly recently rented for $5K a night. The 8,000 sq ft mansion at 2 Oakwood Court is currently on the market for $4,995,000. And while the property has been languishing on the market for 182 days, perhaps Leo’s presence will give the Tuscan-style estate a bit of a marketing infusion.
“I think Leo DiCaprio’s presence in this property will absolutely help find a buyer,” said Chris Leavitt, television personality and top broker at Douglas Elliman.
“Leo will bring excellent exposure to the property so it will be seen by more potential buyers. In addition, Leo is known for being a discriminating, and successful real estate investor. His endorsement sends a clear message that this property is a winner,” Leavitt added.
Reportedly, DiCaprio, model Kelly Rohrbach and other friends took a seaplane to the Wainscott estate for a weekend party, enjoying features such as very California-esque outdoor and indoor living spaces, two master bedrooms, and a sunken living room with a double-sided fireplace.
While not on the ocean, the property has a large, heated swimming pool with swim-up bar, hot tub, and outdoor living area with fireplace and cabana. For the more cerebral, there is a mega-size chess set.
Sounds like the perfect place for Leo and his friends to stay — even for a quick weekend.
