A newly launched affordable-housing lottery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side is offering 121 brand-new units to qualified applicants. The units are in the Essex Crossing complex and range from $562 for a studio to $3,770 for a 3-bedroom.
New Yorkers who earn 40%, 60%, 130%, or 165% of the area median income — or between $21,463 and $218,460 per year, depending on apartment size and number of people in the household — may qualify for the apartments. See details in the chart below.
These housing lottery units are in 180 Broome Street, which is “site 4” of the large, multi-site Essex Crossing development . Other sites include 242 Broome Street , 115 Delancey Street , 175 Delancey Street , and 145 Clinton Street . Designed by Handel Architects , the 25-story mixed-use building, called The Artisan, has a total of 263 apartments and features a fitness room, a children’s playroom, bike storage, and a residents’ lounge (additional fees apply).
