West Village Co-op of Late Oliver Sacks Listed for $3.25M

This is just a big bummer and a sad reminder of the loss last August of noted author Dr. Oliver Sacks. The celebrated neurologist and writer lost his battle to cancer at the age of 83 and now his West Village apartment at 2 Horatio Street where he famously lived since 1995 has come up for sale. The list price is $3.25 million for the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit.

2 Horatio is a West Village classic, completely staffed and ideally located.

The building is a prewar classic overlooking Jackson Square Park that was developed by Bing & Bing and is such a prized location that later, after Sacks moved to 14 Horatio, he used the apartment to write. In addition to his earliest and celebrated work, “Awakenings,” Sacks went on to write many other bestselling books, including his wonderful memoir, “On The Move.” Sacks’ unit is in the older section of the building and is a corner unit. While dated and in need of a remodel, the apartment contains a wood-burning fireplace, beamed ceilings and hardwoods.

Sacks, who died last year, most recently used this apartment as his office.
