Given that Park Slope has become one of the 10 most expensive NYC neighborhoods to live in, buying in the neighborhood might seem like a pipe dream. But even with those high sales prices, there are still some gems to be found. According to the latest StreetEasy Market Reports, the median sales price for an apartment in Park Slope is $1.48 million — more than $1 million above the price for this studio.
Buyers who put down the 20 percent minimum down payment of $92,000 can expect to see monthly payments of around $2,538. This consists of a mortgage payment of $1,926 and a monthly maintenance fee of $612 — relatively low by New York City standards. For reference, the median rent in Park Slope is $2,900 per month.
Although it’s small, this studio packs plenty of character and charm. The kitchen is definitely a stand-out, with stainless-steel appliances (including a dishwasher), breakfast bar, and granite countertops. Plus, there’s enough space for a dining set right by the window.
There’s a sizable living area, too, perfect for a couch and a TV, plus a desk or study area. Hardwood floors flow throughout the space, into the “bedroom” nook, where at least a full-size bed can fit without getting in the way of anything.
This studio is located in a building with an elevator, laundry room, garage parking, and live-in super, so no worries about taking the stairs or hauling laundry down the street. Pied-à-terres are also permitted.
And then of course there’s the location. The apartment is just a little over a block away from Grand Army Plaza and of course, Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Brooklyn Public Library. The 2, 3, B and Q trains are also all nearby.
Studios aren’t for everyone. But for one person or a couple, this place could be perfect. Some might also find the bed by the door to be a bit awkward. But for those looking for a great starter apartment or a gorgeous pied-à-terre for trips into the city, this one is definitely worth a look.
