Emily Blunt and John Krasinski Buy $11M Apt at the Standish in BK Heights

The Standish is fast becoming the 443 Greenwich St. of Brooklyn — home to some of the borough’s biggest movie and TV stars.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski just closed on a pair of apartments for $11 million at the ultra-chic boutique condo redevelopment at 171 Columbia Heights St.

The WSJ reported the Hollywood A-listers and Brooklyn real estate fans were the buyers for a pair of eighth-floor units at the 12-story building overlooking New York Harbor and the Brooklyn Promenade. This is the same building where Matt Damon’s recorded closing confirms that he was the buyer for a $16.745-million penthouse — the biggest-ever sale of a residential property in Brooklyn.

The word from 6sqft is that Blunt and Krasinski may combine the units, which take up the entire eighth floor. The purchase may seem odd, given that the couple had fairly recently bought and then sold a gorgeous townhouse in Park Slope, lamenting that they had not been able to use it as much as they wanted.

However, given the paparazzi-proof nature of the Standish, it seems to be attracting residents who need security and privacy. Like 443 Greenwich in Lower Manhattan, where Justin Timberlake and many other celebrities have bought in the past year or so, the Standish should now be considered a magnet for marquee New Yorkers.

StreetEasy listing pages for the apartments do not include any details about the interiors or square footage. However, the entire 10th-floor unit, which sold for $11.685 million, is listed to be 5,000 square feet.

This is another apartment currently for sale at the Standish, asking $6.395 million.

The scale of the Standish apartments can be seen in this current listing, which features high ceilings and wide open spaces.

The Standish is a Beaux-Arts style former hotel once called the Standish Arms, which dates back to 1903. The hotel underwent its first conversion to rental units in 2007 before it was sold for $60 million in 2015 for this latest luxury condo conversion.
