Social distancing makes it pretty tough to roll with an entourage these days. Perhaps that’s why Jeremy Piven, who played the epic agent Ari Gold on HBO’s zeitgeist hit “Entourage” from 2004 to 2011, has decided to part ways with his super-swanky duplex penthouse in Tribeca. Piven has been unloading lots of real estate lately according to Variety’s Dirt.com. He also sold off a beachfront Malibu home last year.

Inside Jeremy Piven’s Tribeca Penthouse

Piven bought the sprawling duplex apartment back in 2011 for $4,582,125. (Here’s an only-in-New-York footnote: He bought it from Mets legend Mike Piazza!) It’s been on and off the market since early 2019, originally listed for $7.75M and then lowered to $6.75M, then $5.75M, then the even $5M that it has now sold for. That’s almost $3M off the original ask — a pretty huge price cut by any standards, even Hollywood’s.

Even with the price cuts, the sale price was still above average for Tribeca, where the median price for a 2-bedroom is $3.26M. And it’s no wonder: This gorgeous penthouse, apartment 8/9C at 161 Hudson Street, features 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths spread out over two floors and a whopping 3,000 square feet. If that’s not enough space for you, there’s also 1,000 square feet of private outdoor space in the form of a walled garden, a patio with a BBQ and entertaining area, and a roof deck with eye-popping views of downtown.

Perhaps you’re not the BBQ type? No worries! There’s also a killer kitchen with top-of-the-line Viking appliances and two of practically everything: ovens, sinks, even two dishwashers. After dinner, you can venture into the temperature-controlled wine cellar to select a bottle for your evening enjoyment. Savor it while listening to music on the home’s surround-sound Sonos speaker system.

Architecture buffs will appreciate the home’s perfect view of the nearby tower at 56 Leonard Street. It’s often called “the Jenga building” for its asymmetrical, cantilevered design. This downtown gem, a 2015 creation of Pritzker Prize– winning architects Herzog & de Meuron, is visible from both inside and outside the penthouse.

The listing was represented by Stefani Berkin of R New York.

Piven’s NYC Connections

Jeremy Piven grew up in the Chicago area, but he is actually a native New Yorker — he was born in Manhattan. He briefly starred in a Broadway revival of the David Mamet play “Speed-the-Plow” in 2008, before dropping out. (His departure caused a lot of drama in the theater world, and not of the good kind. He has been dogged by other kinds of drama as well.)

Piven is best known for “Entourage,” for which he won three consecutive Emmys in 2006, 2007, and 2008. In the show, a young actor from Queens moves to L.A. to pursue his showbiz dreams and brings his motley group of NYC friends along for the ride. Piven played agent Ari Gold, a memorable character for sure who was actually modeled on real-life power agent Ari Emanuel. Coincidentally, Emanuel has also unloaded some pricey real estate recently. He sold a tony mansion in L.A.’s Brentwood area for a $5M loss.
