So far, I've read, and recommend: * The New York Co-Op Bible, by Sylvia Shapiro - all kinds of details about living in a co-op. How to buy one, what's different from buying a condo, how to deal with board members, how to hande interviews, and a lot more. * Finding the Uncommon Deal, by Adam Leitman Bailey - I really liked this book also, and though Mr. Bailey is a New York lawyer the book is much less New York-specific and deals with acquiring your home rather than what you do once you start living in it. Much more about mortgages, payments, and the loan process than Shapiro's book, and much more applicable to US real estate in general. What else out there is worth reading? [less]
ali r. wrote a book about RE.
Is it New York-centric? If so, there's a sale in it for Ali -- what's it called?
I don't remember the title. ali may be on here at some point today. Ask her.
Thanks truth!
Triple,
My book is out of print (I'm working on a second) but it got good reviews at the time (Publisher's Weekly, the Observer, Newsweek) and you can still get it for about three bucks on Amazon.

It's not completely about NYC real estate, but there's certainly some good nuggets in there amidst stories about the beach house.

The New York Co-Op Bible by Sylvia Shapiro is not only highly informative, it's also a fun read. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
I'd add "gloom boom & doom report" by faber. Also not completely about nyc re but some good nuggets as well.
Alison, congratulations; I bought your book! Should be in my hands in 21 days, Amazon says, so I'm looking forward to it!
I'd like my 5% of that deal please ;)
