image of biggie childhood home for rent

In a sign of just how much Brooklyn has changed over the decades, the Notorious B.I.G’s childhood home in Clinton Hill is now available to rent — for $4,000 per month.

Far from the “one-room shack” the late icon rapped about in “Juicy,” the bright and airy 3-bedroom at 226 St. James Place #3L has undergone a considerable facelift, to say the least. The stretch of St. James Place where the home is located was renamed Christopher ‘Notorious B.I.G.’ Wallace Way in honor of the rapper earlier this month.

This unit is one of eight in a prewar limestone condo building. Prospective tenants can look forward to an apartment that exudes charm with crown moldings and beamed ceilings. The unit also offers a separate spacious dining room and a study off of the living room, one that might even fit a small music studio.

The apartment isn’t the only thing that’s gotten a makeover. In the years since Biggie’s passing, Clinton Hill has gone from gritty to trendy. The neighborhood is now known for its tree-lined streets, stately brownstones and popular restaurants.

Despite its famous former resident, this unit is actually priced on par with similar units in the area, coming in just below the $4,125 median for 3-bedrooms in Clinton Hill. The unit was previously sold back in 2013 for $825,000. So, welcome to latter-day Brooklyn. We kinda doubt Biggie would recognize it.
