Why you’ll love it…
Found on Clinton Hill’s historic Mansion Row, this unit is located on the top floor of a Queen Anne mansion built in 1892 complete with a turret and large shared front porch. The apartment faces the back of the building, which features a common garden with lawn furniture. Pets are permitted, as are sublets! Inside the home you’ll find hardwood floors, built-in bookshelves, and moldings that lend to the place’s vintage charm.
There’s a closet in the foyer, also conveniently located outside the bathroom, which features a skylight and walk-in shower with gorgeous blue tiling. From the foyer you’ll find the galley-style kitchen, equipped with a suite of stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher. The room also has a stacked washer/dryer, aka the height of NYC living. The oven and fridge are both full-size.
The living area has high vaulted ceilings and two windows, giving the space a bright and airy feel. There’s an outcove big enough to fit a couch or a desk to create your perfect cozy reading spot or work-from-home station. This room can also accommodate both a dining table and living room furniture, so you won’t have to eat dinner sitting on the sofa. The bedroom is also generously sized and features inlaid hardwood floors.
And of course, we have to talk about the building’s location. Restaurants like Evelina, LaRina Pastificio & Vino, Mike’s Coffee Shop, and Farmer in the Deli can all be found on nearby streets. When you want to get outside, you’ll have your choice of Fort Greene Park or the Pratt Institute Sculpture Park. Barclays Center, Whole Foods, and the Atlantic Terminal Mall are also within a mile of the building. Transit-wise, the G and C trains are your closest stops.
…And why you might not
Judging by the listing photos staged with added cabinets and wardrobes, this unit does have a lack of closet space, with no formal closet in the bedroom. There’s a slightly awkward vertical pole in the bathroom (though the jute wrap used around it in the photos does help), and the building doesn’t have an elevator. But if you’re on the hunt for a Clinton Hill home on a historic street below seven figures, this one is worth shortlisting!
