J Lo and A-Rod Have a Buyer for Their 432 Park Ave. Condo Listed for $17.5M

J Lo and A-Rod are in contract for their 432 Park Ave. condo they bought in February 2018.

As first reported by the NY Post, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have received an offer on their 4,000-square-foot apartment at 432 Park Ave.  The celebrity star couple bought the condo in February 2018, paying $17.5 million for the 3-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom unit. The identity of the buyer or the offer price are not known.

The reason J-Rod is selling so soon is because the condo is not big enough. Since both adults have two children each from previous marriages, the 432 Park spread does not spread far enough when the combined clan is in town together.

The couple put the apartment on the market in January for the same price they bought it for – $17.5M. They are reportedly looking for something “much larger” downtown, which makes us here at StreetEasy want to play the same guessing game we played last year when Rodriguez and Lopez were first spotted house-hunting in Manhattan.

Some of the top celebrity-friendly buildings downtown that can guarantee privacy and hotel-like amenities include 443 Greenwich, where Justin Timberlake lives (he and A-Rod could always discuss Cameron Diaz) or 70 Vestry, where Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen live. However, neither of those buildings have anything remotely big enough on the market. They were most recently reportedly seen viewing this penthouse for $42.5M at SoHo’s Puck Building.

They could try Brooklyn, where Matt Damon and Emily Blunt and John Krasinski just bought at the exclusive Standish condo building. But again, there’s nothing there significantly bigger than the unit they’re selling at 432 Park.

Of course, the question that begs to be answered is why J-Rod and family don’t just move to J-Lo’s NoMad condo at 21 E. 26th St., which she has been trying to sell since 2017. It’s still listed, but with a price drop to $24,990,000 (from $26,950,000). It spans 6,500 square feet, plus an additional 3,000 square feet of outdoor terrace. Maybe that’s too … logical?

J-Lo and A-Rod are no strangers to high-end real estate wheeling and dealing. She has bought and sold mansions in Los Angeles and Miami, and in 2013 she reportedly bought a $10 million home in Water Mill on the East End of Long Island, when she was with Casper Smart.

Meanwhile, A-Rod is a bona-fide real estate entrepreneur, having built a custom modern home in Miami he sold for a profit at $30 million, and having flipped Meryl Streep’s former Los Angeles home. He has rented and owned several high-end apartments in Manhattan, including at 15 Central Park West and the Rushmore. He has been rumored to tour other NYC properties over the years, including 153 Franklin St. in Tribeca, where Taylor Swift bought in 2017.

He also has a real estate investment division in his A-Rod Corp., so this little cup of coffee at 432 Park is really no big deal for these high-rent A-listers.
